Winter League Round 13 - Sunday 2nd February 2020
February sees the business end of this season's Winter League and this week certainly saw quality players coming to the fore. Conditions overhead were mild but very soggy underfoot as the small field squelched their way round.
Scoring was tight but proven past masters 4BBB pair, Fitzhugh and Jeffries scored a truly awesome 41 points to take spoils. Mrs & Mr Norton came second with 40 points with Gary Silver and Steven Lazarus finishing third after a card playoff with 39 points,
A mention also for new members Anthony Grimley and Majid Benyounes who competed in the WL for the first time this week, hopefully, their first of many competitions at WGC. The field is now bunching up behind leaders Darren Dark Horse Ford (who is taking the league so seriously, he postponed hip surgery to compete this week) and Paul Outlaws Champion Hattersley.
We have taken delivery of the new Odyssey Putters in the shop and also some fantastic Callaway X Hot irons and Woods. I am offering a FREE Putting Fitting and Lesson with every New Putter purchase.
Your new Captain
I would like to mention Mr Captain David Lewis, this has been my first year at Whitefield GC and I have loved every minute of playing and working with Mr Captain David Lewis. We have had some success on the golf course along with a few mishaps along the way. I would like to Thank Mr Captain for all his support this year.
A special mention goes to The Captain Elect Mr Martin Sluckis who will be coming into Office on Sunday Evening at the Annual Dinner. We look forward to working with you this year and look forward to playing in our challenges.
We have taken delivery of some new machinery and we currently are having the fairways verti-cut to improve the structure of the soil and grass.
I would like to say that I have been receiving fantastic reports about the course from visitors and I would like to say personally that the course is in excellent condition for the time of year. We must remember to repair pitch marks and divots in order to maintain the course.
