Smart casual dress must be worn at all times. Shirts must have a collar and sleeves. Golf shoes or suitable trainers. No denim, tracksuits, football/rugby shirts. Local Rules must be followed and are displayed in the Clubhouse. We are a forward thinking club, if in doubt simply ask in the pro shop.

All golfers must present themselves to the Pro Shop 10 minutes before tee-off time. Please avoid slow play.

The following club rules are correct as of 1 July 2026

Times of Play
Members may play 07:00 until dusk (subject to change according to the season) other than when the tee is reserved for section competitions, matches, events or visiting societies.
Prior to 07:00 booking is not normally available, thus keeping the course clear, to enable the greenkeepers to prepare the course unhindered.
Men’s competitions take place on a Sunday, Ladies competitions on a Tuesday (or alternative day on a Sunday) & the Senior Section have reserved times on Monday and Thursday, (these may vary in the off season). Ladies have a reserved tee time on a Thursday morning.

Saturday Morning Reserved Times
07:00 – 10:24 Gentlemen members
10:32 – 10:50 Lady members
Single and two ball bookings are not allowed before 11:45am
Prior to 11:45am on a Saturday Members’ can only play with guests on a 1:1 basis.
The Club / Pro has the right to make up games to 4 balls at busy times.

Member Tee Booking & Lead Times
Unless playing after 18:00 members cannot play without pre-booking.
14 days in advance for a weekday tee time
7 days in advance for a weekend tee time
Online bookings open at 6:00pm for all bookings, other than Men’s Competitions (see below)
The names of your playing partners must be filled in. ‘Anonymous’ bookings are not allowed.
The Captain, Lady Captain, President & Honorary Life President can make a booking at any time and are not restricted by the above lead times & restrictions.
Prior to play, and when all players in the game are on site, a player from the game must check in at the Pro shop.

Men’s Competition booking times.
Unless otherwise advised by the Competition Organiser:
Sunday 6pm 7 days prior, 50% of tee times will be available.
Monday 8pm 6 days prior all remaining tee time available.
Players are advised that a full guide to club competitions and WGC approach to handicaps can be found on the Members Website.

Member Guest Rates & Booking Procedure
For a guest playing with a member the green fees are as follows:
Weekend am £28
Weekend pm £24
Weekday am £25
Weekday pm £22
When the normal visitor rate is lower than the Member Guest Rate e.g., twilight or during winter months, the lower rate is paid.
For a member wishing to play with a visitor the correct procedure is to make an online booking for yourself and any other members, then to immediately contact the Pro shop 0161 351 2709 who will add your visitors to the booking and take appropriate payment.

WGC Membership Card
Every paid-up member will be issued with a membership card. This can be used to purchase food & drink in the Spike Bar, where a 10% discount will be applied to purchases. The card can also be used for competition entry fees, where the fee is automatically debited on entering the competition.
Cards can be topped up in either the Office, Spike Bar, Pro Shop or directly on the website & IG App.

Practice Area
Area adjacent to the 14th tee
During men’s Sunday competitions practice is prohibited from 10:00 am until the final game has teed off from the 14th.
On Tuesdays, Ladies Competition Day, practice is prohibited from 12:30 – 14:00
From time to time, e.g., shotgun starts & external events, this practice area may be closed. In these situations, members will be given advance notice by email.
Practicing on the Course is strictly forbidden
Hitting balls onto the 13th Fairway is not allowed
Pitching & chipping area to left of 14th fairway
There are no restrictions during the playing of competitions

Course Etiquette & Safety
• Players should be respectful to other Golfers at all times
• Ready golf should be adopted at all times provided it is safe and practical to do so
• Please stay behind the game in front, NOT in front of the game behind
• If a game fails to keep its place on the course, and loses more than one hole on the players in front, it should call through the game behind.
• A single player has no standing on the course.
• Players playing 18 holes have precedence over those not playing a full round.
• All players must have their own golf equipment, no sharing is permitted.
• Players must not play until the game in front is out of range.
• Players must not play until greenstaff, working on the course, are out of range or called on by the Greenstaff.
• Before leaving a bunker, a player must carefully rake it, leaving it as he/she would expect to find it.
• Please replace all divots not just your own.
• On the green repair your own pitch mark, and any others, whilst waiting for your opponents to putt.
• If a ball leaves the course, and has the potential to cause damage, this must be reported to the office and the appropriate documentation completed.
• There are three ‘call on’ holes, 5,9 & 11. If the following group are on the tee and ready to play then Players should ‘call on’ when all are on the Green, prior to putting out
• If a ball is struck anywhere near another golfer then it is mandatory to shout ‘FORE’
• Starting play from any other point other than the first is not recommended. However, where you have to do this, you do not have right of play, and you must make yourself aware of games that are then behind you.
• On occasions during the winter months members will be asked to use mats when playing on the course. This is done so that the course is in its best condition during the regular season. When asked to play on mats it will be mandatory not optional unless advised.
• We do not expect members to know every single rule of Golf, but we expect that they will take the time to get to know the basic rules which they will come across in a normal round of golf. There are many resources on the internet aimed at helping golfers to understand the rules, but whether you are a seasoned golfer or a complete novice we would ask that you view the ‘R&A Quick Guide to the Rules of Golf’ which can be found on their website or on YouTube. The video is 12 minutes 50 seconds and is very informative.
• The Captain and Lady Captain have precedence on the course and should be invited to play through.
• Though not mandatory it is highly recommended that Members take out their own golf insurance policy. These policies are low in cost and provide peace of mind in case of any accidents, damage or injury to third parties or property.

Dress Code
A. Clubhouse
The club adopts a flexible approach to the dress code in the clubhouse, with smart casual being acceptable unless otherwise requested.
B. Course
On the course smart golf wear is expected and shirts must be tucked in.
Smart golf wear is mandatory
• No gym attire, football kit or denim jeans are permitted.
• No tracksuits or jogging bottoms.
• Shirts must have a collar unless specifically designer golf wear.
• Tailored shorts only; not sports shorts.
• Caps must be worn the correct way round

General
If you see anyone damaging the course or course property please try and take photos or videos of the incident and report these to the Club Professional.
On becoming a member of WGC and using the facilities you agree to abide by these Rules, as amended from time to time, and you are entering into a Contract with the Club to pay the Fees or Charges which have been communicated to you.
